Democracy Day: Osun Deputy Gov. Mr. Benedict Alabi Enjoins Nigerians to Uphold and Defend Democracy.

Mr. Benedict Alabi has expressed warm felicitations to the people of the State and Nigerians in general on this special maiden celebration of the recently instituted Democracy Day in Nigeria.

The Deputy Governor noted that, the circumstances that necessitated the institutionalization of June 12, marks a watershed in the history of Nigeria’s political development. It is fitting that the day has been properly situated in the annals of the nation.

The Deputy Governor salutes and commend the courage of our patriots, living and dead, who sacrificed everything, including their lives, in the cause of June 12 and birth of democracy in our land. “You are our heroes and heroines.
You will never be forgotten, but will live in our hearts forever”

“We must keep nurturing democracy with the nutrients of peace, love and hard work and protect it with mutual respect, tolerance and unbounded patriotism. We urge Nigerians to uphold and defend the significance for institutionalizing the Day as a national holiday.” He opined.

The Deputy Governor added, that “since the  inauguration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s government, he has put you, our people, at the heart of government and working to make democracy meaningful and impactful.
“Every policy and  decision we have taken is to further the people’s interest and lift them into the cape of peace, security, prosperity and abundant life”.

He congratulates Nigerians on this day.
